Fist of Kong

Hey everyone... sorry for letting this go for so long, but it's my intention to start posting again. Fist of Kong has had a lot going on lately: we've continued doing duo recordings (Charlie Naked and Danny McMahon) which have increasingly veered in a more ambient/electronic/experimental direction, and we've started working with Houston improvising musicians Chairs, which has been an incredibly productive and enriching collaboration. Expect to hear some of that in the coming weeks...

So we had a nice post-4th jam session/pool party at Pearson's, and recorded an afternoon's worth of music. This time it was Charlie, Danny and Robert as before, along with John Atlas on tenor sax and some wind instruments he brought along.

This is the inaugural session for a new home base for our expanded group, at keyboardist Robert Pearson's place. This time around we're just testing the waters, so it's just Pearson on keyboard, Danny on standup bass, and me on MicroKorg synth and tenor sax.

So this time Danny McMahon and Charlie Naked hooked up with Pete Sullivan (bari and alto sax) and Kyle Carnes (drums) and had a good old time at Pete's place. Check it out! Some fairly swinging FOK, and an actual drummer for the first time in a long time. Good times were had by all, and we even played a little bocce ball on a break.

First Fisting of the year! Here we are with Danny on his new standup bass, me on tenor instead of alto sax, John Atlas on tenor and some interesting cane and wood wind instruments, and our first encounter with (and I hope I have his name right) Eric B on percussion.
